A SPACE THAT'S ABOUT ME: ARTHUR'S STORY

Meet young carer Arthur, hear his powerful story in our 2025 Winter Appeal and give more young carers a space that's just for them this Christmas.

Centre 33 young person support

THIS IS ARTHUR'S STORY.

There are 25,000 young carers in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough. Many feel unseen, unheard and alone.

Arthur, 12, looks after his two brothers Finley and Harrison, who have a rare degenerative, life-limiting condition called Batten disease. He helps with day-to-day tasks like getting them ready for school, dinner and bed, preparing meals and brushing their teeth. He's also there when they're struggling, and just need someone to talk to.

Arthur loves his brothers, and he loves looking after them - but it isn't easy and he does worry. He isn't alone.

Centre 33 gave Arthur a space to share his worries and feelings, advice to overcome practical challenges and a chance to meet other young carers.

Watch Arthur's full, powerful story below.

With your help, we can make sure more young carers have a space that's just for them this winter. Donate today.

You can help more young carers feel respected, supported - and able to take steps towards a brighter future.

I feel really happy when I come to Centre 33, I can just speak freely and not have any pressure on myself.

Now I know I'm not the only one who struggles. It makes me feel like I belong.

Centre 33 gave me a space that's just about me.

A SPACE THAT'S FOR THEM

Every year, we support over 1,000 local young carers. We give them a place to talk about their worries and feelings, practical help with tricky challenges and chances to meet other young carers, so they can build support networks and feel less alone. Last year, after Centre 33 support, 83% of young carers felt less isolated and 72% said their caring role impacted them less.
