Young Carers Project Volunteer helper
Responsible
to:
Young Carers ProjectWorker
Hours
of work:
2 hours per fortnight or month of group work
1 helpers meeting every three months (if required)
2 "Link days" agency meetings a year (if possible)
Occasional other meetings/ training as appropriate
Occasional trips out or residential visits (if possible)
Place
of work:
Groups meet at the Newton Cucumber wing of the Meadows Community Centre
in Arbury, Ely College and other venues. Trips out and residential
visits are arranged occasionally
As a
Young Carers Project volunteer you will be required:
- To
take responsibility for ensuring that activities are safe and enjoyable
for the young people in the group.
- To
maintain client confidentiality.
- To
attend the group(s) on a regular basis.
- To
work as part of a team for the benefit of the young people in the
group, to support other volunteers and the group leader as appropriate
- e.g. in planning trips or activities.
- To
work within guidelines on child protection and hold this as the highest
priority at all times.
Skills
and Experience
Any
experience of interpersonal work or youth work would be useful but not
essential as the Induction course will cover aspects of working with
young people.
