Outreach Volunteer at Centre 33
Job Title:
Outreach Volunteer
Responsible
to:
Outreach Team Co-ordinator
Hours
of Work:
To be negotiated following the framework of:
One 4 hour session per month
2 hours every 6-8 weeks (team meetings)
Approx. 8 hours initial training period
Occasional other meetings/trainings as required
Tasks:
As an Outreach Volunteer you will be required:
- To take
Centre 33's display and resources out to young people in specific venues
eg. The Junction, festivals, youth centres, other events etc in Cambridge
and occasionally outlying villages
- To make
contact with, and publicise Centre 33's service to, young people and
in particular our target groups
- To encourage
young people to use Centre 33 if they need to in the future
- To give
out information on specific issues e.g. alcohol, drugs, safer sex etc.
- To perform
a welfare function in certain cases e.g. outreach work at The Junction
- To assist
in the distribution of Centre 33's publicity materials
- To take
joint responsibility for updating the leaflets and other materials used
during outreach work
Responsibilities:
- To attend
your agreed sessions or give as much notice as possible if you can't
make it
- To attend
meetings of the Outreach Team every 6-8 weeks.
- To give
support to and seek support from the other volunteers during your outreach
sessions and from the Outreach Team Co-ordinator if required
- To respect
the young person's right to confidentiality in line with Centre 33's
confidentiality policy
- To follow
the Outreach Team Code of Conduct and follow Centre 33's Grievance and
Disciplinary Procedures where appropriate

- Interest
in and understanding of young people's issues
- Non-judgemental
attitude
- Enthusiasm
and commitment
- Awareness
of confidentiality issues
- Ability
to communicate
- Previous
experience of working with young people - desirable
