Young Carers Project works with under 19s in the Cambridge and Ely area
who care for and support a family member who have:
A long-term illness
Disability
Mental health problem
Misuse drugs or alcohol The
Project aims to:
Work
with all young people within the local community, who support a family
member in at least one of the ways mentioned above.
Ensure
that the young people on the Project have access to the services they
need and are entitled to.
Ensure
the safety of all young people on the Project in line with Centre 33s
Child Protection Policy.
Respect
the right to confidentiality of all young people and their families in
line with Centre 33s Confidentiality Policy.
Reflect
where possible, the governments Every Child Matters aims, when
supporting young people.
Raise
awareness of issues facing young carers with professional organisations,
the local community and the voluntary sector in the region.
Respect
the right of all young carers to have the opportunity for fun and the
right to be young people first and carers second. The
Young Carers project offers support through:
Six
fortnightly groups in Cambridge and Ely for young people aged 8-18 years
old.
The
ATH (Activities, Trips and Holidays) Project offering the chance to
experience a range of exciting activities and trips.
The
1:1 Project offering individual support to young people when needed.
A newsletter
sent out to all young people on the project every two months.
Supporting
young people by talking to their school or other professionals on their
behalf
A
range of established services provided by Centre 33 including
Counselling, Information and Advocacy If
you know of a young person who may be interested in being part of the
Project or you have any questions about the Project please feel free to
contact us. If
you would like to refer a young person to the Young Carers Project,
please make sure you have discussed it with the young person in the
first instance. Once we have received the completed form we will then
arrange to meet with the young person and their family to talk about the
Project and answer any questions they may have. You
